PTA vs. PTO?  What is the difference?
  • The technical differences between a PTA and a PTO are fairly simple..  The PTA carefully protects its name so that only dues-paying members of the group can call themselves a PTA. PTO, on the other hand, is a generic term. It usually represents groups that choose to remain independent.
  • The National PTA is a formal membership organization now headquartered in Alexandria, Va., with a 120-year history of working for children. Some groups refer to themselves as a Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) - which usually serves the same function, but they are not part of the National PTA organization.
Why does our PTA have membership dues?
  • Dues are a monetary donation that benefits your child’s school by providing many fun and educational opportunities.
  • Some of the opportunities covered by the PTA membership dues are Field Trips, Teacher appreciation activities, Playground equipment, Field Day, Yearbook, awards, and International Festival.
What’s the difference between PTA membership levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Business)?
Head to our Membership Page for more information.
What’s required of a volunteer?
  • A board level volunteer is required to attend all board meetings at school. They also are required to perform the job duties associated with the role.
  • An Action Team volunteer does not have to attend board meetings but encouraged to do so. They are required to perform job duties associated with the role.
  • Contact us for more information if you would like to serve as a Board or Action Team member.
